It’s a whole new hair world for me!

For the past 3 years, I’ve been on Operation Healthy Hair. I stopped using heat on my hair (only on special occasions.. about 5-6 times a year) and stopped the dyes as well (I’ve been dying my hair since I was 13!) My hair was FRIED when I decided to do this. I’m glad to say my fabulous locks have been heat and dye-free long enough! It’s finally at my goal length and it’s all healthy! No split ends, which is somewhat of a miracle for me.

A few weeks ago, I started re-introducing heat on my hair  – I am aiming for 2-4 times a month? We’ll see how it goes. Anyway, this Curl Active curler by Rowenta has been amazing! I should start off by saying that their PR company sent me this for a possible review. I don’t do sponsored reviews, so they’re not paying me any money for this. You might start to wonder if they are, because I freakin’ love this thing and it will show in this post. Juuuust wanted to put it out there. Honest reviews all up in this blog! And what! (too much coffee today)

Anyway, I brought it with me to LA last week. I love that it comes in a protective travel pouch, making it super easy to pack. (Totally got our LA team on this, too! lol)

I also really like the coating on it (the terms they use are too fancy for me) but I know that my hair does not feel burnt or dry when I use it, so that’s a win!

And here are some of the functions.

Here’s a quick video to show you how it works:

It was a little intimidating to use at first (it’s very high-tech compared to my heatless curls method I have been using), but once you get the hang of it, it is sooo easy! It takes me less than 10 minutes to do my hair in the morning when I use this.

Products (in order of use):

  1. Vidal Sassoon Waves Hair Primer Spray (Spray on damp or dry hair)
  2. Matrix Total Results Heat Resist Iron Tamer (I use one pump for each side of my head)
  3. Vidal Sassoon Waves hair Spray (Sprayed on before you head out the door. Love this because it doesn’t make my hair brittle! You can use a stronger hair spray if you need your waves to stay all day, but I like mine pretty loose so this is perfect)

 Finished product:

You can buy it at RowentaBeauty or at your local Trade Secrets (it’s on sale for $99, regular $180 until Dec 24th!)

I’m happy to answer any questions you have about this! I’m a big fan and have been recommending it as much as I can. If you’ve been using this for awhile, share your tricks! :) Or if you have any products to recommend to me? I’m new at this heat game and technology’s come a long way, so don’t be shy to let me know what I’ve been missing.

Disclosure: This post contains products sent to me by a PR company/brand. As always, these are my honest opinions. Sharing because I love them and I think you will, too!

I reviewed this iron as well and have used it multiple times since my post on it. I do like the curl it gives after using it, but for some reason, my curls are pretty much non-existent the next day. Maybe my hair is too fine? I’ll have to try it on like three-day-old hair, maybe it will hold it a little better.

    • Hey Shayna! Thanks for the comment!

I usually use it the day after I wash my hair for a little more “grip”? I find that the curls stay on longer when I do my hair in smaller sections and using a heavier hairspray. My hair is also super thick, so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it? lol

Awesome review! Love all of the details you put on the images by the way, it’s a fantastic touch ^_^

    • (Oops sorry for the super late reply) but thanks so much! Appreciate your comment, I’ll be sure to include those details in other product reviews :)

  • Ah! I got this as a Christmas present and I love it! I was actually thinking of curling my hair last night and after seeing this review again, I’m going to have to do it tonight. The first time I used it, my curls last for 3 days – getting softer, of course!

    • Whaaa 3 days?! My hair gets so oily that I look like a mess after 2 days and I have to wear a hat LOL What products did you use?

      • Ummm… I’m not bragging when I say I don’t use anything. Usually, my hair looks best on the second day because the frizz is gone. Anyway, I instinctually try not to use too many products at all. Not really helpful, I suppose but I love this Curl Active, makes curling my hair so fast and easy that I actually do it more often and not just on special occassions!
